Ground RB · Beginner practice plan

Your first 10 matches.
One goal at a time.

Use a starter lineup you know and focus on one thing each match. Repeat a drill if it still feels awkward; ten matches are a starting point.

Before match one

Check your lineup in Ground Realistic Battles, prepare usable backups and test your controls. Keep the same vehicles while learning so unfamiliar equipment does not distract from the drill.

Ask whether you improved the thing you were practicing. You can learn from a match even if you lose or finish without a kill.

Match 1

Know your controls

Goal: Get comfortable driving and aiming before taking on other players.

Practice

Before queuing, use a test drive to check movement, braking, reverse, gun sight, binoculars and rangefinding. Find these actions in Controls rather than relying on a particular default key. In the match, choose a covered route you can drive confidently.

After the match

Could I reach cover without fighting my controls?

Match 2

Move from cover to cover

Goal: Plan the next safe stop before leaving the current one.

Practice

Pick a rock, terrain fold or building that blocks incoming fire. Check the exposed crossing, then move to that cover. Trees and bushes may hide you but do not reliably stop shells. Avoid crossing an open field simply because the objective is ahead.

After the match

Which crossing exposed me, and what route would reduce that exposure?

Match 3

Look before moving out

Goal: Find danger before showing the whole vehicle.

Practice

Stop behind cover and use binoculars to inspect likely enemy approaches. Look for movement, silhouettes and muzzle flashes. Check both the main lane and your flank before moving the gun into view.

After the match

Did I look first, or drive out to discover what was there?

Match 4

Take one well-aimed shot

Goal: Choose the target and aim before firing.

Practice

In a test drive, compare your selected shell against familiar targets. In battle, stop where practical, identify the target and aim at an exposed area your shell can defeat. Avoid assuming the displayed penetration number guarantees a hit through every angle.

After the match

Was the shot rushed, poorly aimed or aimed at armor I could not defeat?

Match 5

Estimate range

Goal: Check the range before you shoot.

Practice

Practice the rangefinding control in a test drive, then use it from cover when an engagement gives you time. Observe where a shot lands and correct your next aim. Rangefinder equipment and crew skills affect the estimate; starter tanks do not all provide an instant exact range.

After the match

Did I account for distance before firing again?

Match 6

Protect the reload

Goal: Get back behind cover while you reload.

Practice

Know your vehicle’s approximate reload from practice. Before shooting, choose nearby cover and a retreat path. After firing, use that cover when practical instead of remaining in the same exposed firing position. Slow reverse speed may require a different approach.

After the match

Could I get behind cover during the reload?

Match 7

Change the angle

Goal: Do not repeat an exposure the enemy can pre-aim.

Practice

After revealing your position, reassess the lane. Use another covered firing position if one is available and useful. A flank should create a safe shot, not an isolated rush behind the entire enemy team.

After the match

Did I change the situation, or offer the enemy the same shot twice?

Match 8

Support the objective

Goal: Help the team hold ground without chasing a reckless capture.

Practice

Check the minimap and nearby teammates. Cover a route into an objective, protect a teammate’s approach or capture when the approach is reasonably safe. Report an observed enemy with a map ping; use active scouting only if your vehicle has that ability.

After the match

How did my position help the team contest or hold an objective?

Match 9

Choose the next spawn

Goal: Respond to the threat instead of repeating the first loss.

Practice

When destroyed, identify the threat and check which vehicles the spawn screen lets you afford. Choose a usable backup and a different approach. Consider SPAA when aircraft are the problem and you have an available vehicle. Do not drive back into a watched lane for revenge.

After the match

Did my next vehicle and route address what killed me?

Match 10

Combine the habits

Goal: Put the habits together and work out what still needs practice.

Practice

Before spawning, choose a role and a route with cover. Look first, aim your shot, pull back to reload and check whether the position is still safe. After the match, pick one thing that worked and one to change. Repeat an earlier drill if you need to.

After the match

What mistake do I keep making, and which drill would help?

What comes after match ten?

Repeat your weakest drill, then use a nation guide to research your next complete lineup. Move up when your backups, budget and vehicle knowledge are ready.
